My name is Ken and I have been a Christian for almost 7 years. I got saved in 1995 when I was a freshman in my college in Hong Kong. I recall that it was registration day and there were two persons preaching the gospel to me. They showed me a booklet named The Mystery of Human Life. They shared with me that man was created by God as a vessel, not merely to contain food and knowledge, but to contain Him. My eyes were then opened to see the meaning of my life. It is to receive God as my content and satisfaction. I thus received the Lord by calling on His name that day. Since then I realized that I had a new start in my whole life.
A big step of the change in my life was the decision to get baptized and enter into the church life. I was baptized about three months after I got saved. At first, I hesitated because on the one hand, I felt that if I got baptized, I had to commit myself to the church and would no longer be free. However after thorough fellowship with the brothers, I realized that baptism is not an outward empty ritual, it has the spiritual significance that we are buried and resurrected with Christ (Romans 6:2-5). Moreover, we are baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:27) and the Body of Christ (1Corinthians 12:13). As a result, I was much clearer about what baptism is and the desire to get baptized rose up in me. I then made the decision before the Lord to get baptized. Soon after I got baptized, I recognized that I did have a new life in me and I began to love the Lord and the believers more. Since then I also began to meet with the local church. I can testify that I do not regret my decision to get baptized and begin meeting with the local church. I recognize that it is an enjoyment rather than a commitment.
